We wanted to create something exceptional with the Hotel Zur Post. A place of inspiration and pleasure alike. That’s why we build a bridge between a traditional Westphalian Restaurant and a modern boutique hotel. Art plays an important role for us. Because, according to Picasso, art washes away from the soul the dust of everyday life. We maintain hospitality and cuisine at a high level without losing our down-to-earth attitude. Your well-being is most important. That’s what we stand for, that’s what the Hotel Zur Post stands for. Thus we created a special place, that is worth visiting.
The Hotel Zur Post offers rooms which amaze and make feel good. These include our individual hotel rooms, which are dedicated to the most important painters of the 19th and 20th centuries. In our restaurants you can discover the atmosphere of a Westphalian pub or get inspiration in a modern bistro. In summer you have the choice between our street café in front of the historic building side or the beer garden in the courtyard. For your physical well-being, the Hotel Zur Post offers a small but nice wellness area with modern fitness equipment and a sauna facilitiy. The hall area is available for events of all kinds with up to 200 guests.
The foundation stone for the building was laid in 1752. The name Hotel Zur Post goes back to that time. The Prussian Post already used the building as a station for horse-drawn stagecoaches. A post horn from this period 1758 can be viewed in our lobby. Until the 1980s, a branch of the German Federal Post Office was located in one wing of our building. Long-term owners Anna and Bernhard Kerkhoff, who made the hotel a focal point in Riesenbeck from 1933 to 1976, shaped the expansion of the hotel. A comprehensive renovation took place in 1980. After a fundamental expansion of the building, the Hotel Zur Post was opened in 2019 with an upgraded standard as a 4-star hotel. It is now run as an exclusive boutique hotel dedicated to the subject of art and letters.
Riesenbeck is located on the southern slope of the Teutoburg Forest in the northern Münsterland. The Dortmund-Ems Canal and the Mittelland Canal meet near the town, at the so-called “Wet Triangle”. The Teutoburg Forest, north of Riesenbeck, offers a variety of hiking opportunities with the famous Hermannsweg. Riesenbeck is very well developed in terms of traffic. Münster and Osnabrück can be reached in about 35 minutes via the nearby A30 and A1 motorways. The journey time by car to the nearby Münster / Osnabrück airport is only 15 minutes. The hotel itself is centrally located in the center of the town. Parking spaces can be used free of charge directly at the hotel.
